Mind + Spirit: When You Oppose, You Oppose Yourself
Wowza! This is a good one...
"Anything you do to overcome or prevent, causes a spotlight on the very thing you are wanting to overcome and prevent. You cannot take enough action to compensate for the Energy that you’re flowing." ~ Abraham-Hicks, Daily quotes 5/18/18
This quote refers to what I typically call the "fix-it" mindset.
Let's apply it to something we all want: prevention of disease. This way we can easily tease out why this is such a profound point to drive home.
When it comes to things such as cancer, Alzheimers, diabetes... or whatever else you'd like to NOT get, it stands to reason that we'd want to do everything in our power to prevent this from happening. And if it came down to actually dealing with one of these conditions, all the more reason to do our very best to overcome it, no?
Yet this quote tells us that anything we do to prevent or overcome actually potentiates the VERY thing we don't want.
What are we left to do then?
The key question is: what are you focusing on? Are you focusing on health or are you focusing on fighting the issue?
They are vastly different.
The "fix it" mindset focuses on the issue that is not wanted. Whereas the "thriving" mindset focuses on health, on life, on vitality.
On the outside the actions may look the same, but on the inside their energy is vastly different. The "fix it" mindset imbues all action with the energy of struggle and negativity. The "thriving" mindset blesses the same action with the positive energy of possibility and success.
Do you see the difference?
This is why it is so important to have a vision of what you DO want.
And that vision should not be defined as the absence of what you DON'T want.
Give it a shot, write down a few statements about what you want for your health, your life, your relationships or your finances. Are they statements about the absence of something you don't want, or are they statements about the abundance of what you do want?
Focus on what you want, not the ending of what you don't want.
Celebrate what is going well.
Stop preventing and overcoming. Start appreciating and celebrating.
